Adult Partial Hospitalization Program: What to Expect
Our structured PHP mental health services for adults are available from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Horsham Clinic uses a trauma-informed approach. This care model recognizes the effects of previous trauma and uses special communication methods to help you avoid reliving it during treatment.
Here’s what to expect:
- Multispecialty evaluation: You undergo assessments from a psychiatrist, nurses and therapists. Staff meet frequently to discuss your treatment response and identify any additional needs we can address.
- Medications: Sometimes, prescription drugs, such as antidepressants, are necessary to gain symptom control. If you are eligible, we explain how medications work and help you decide how to proceed. We also perform frequent monitoring, so you receive the appropriate medication and dose for your needs.
- Group therapy: We guide discussions covering a broad range of topics, including family dysfunction and how to halt negative self-talk. You also participate in recreational therapies that incorporate poetry, movement and crafts.
- Focus on family: Our holistic approach enables your loved ones to take part in your healing journey. We collaborate with family caregivers to explain treatments, what to expect and how they can help you practice what you’re learning in treatment.
- Discharge planning: Staff reach out to community-based providers and coordinate access to post-discharge treatment. These conversations may involve your primary care provider or other mental health providers. We share information about your treatment and how they can support your ongoing needs.
